Woman reports assault on UNC campus

print friendly

Campus police at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are investigating a report of assault.

According to a message on the UNC Department of Public Safety's website, a woman told investigators that she was on the porch of a home on Bernard Street in Odum Village shortly before 3 p.m. Monday when a man she didn't know passed by on foot and asked for a cigarette.

When she declined, according to police, the two started arguing, and the man assaulted the woman.

Police have only a vague description of the man but ask that anyone with information to contact Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

well UNC...I see there's more...

You know, not being able to give a good description of the criminal means they will continue to do crime until they are actually caught. So those of you that encounter a criminal, just do your best in giving a good description so that he/she can be arrested. a "vague description" will not help the criminal to be caught. Get a good look at that face if its not covered up.

Why in the world would she carry on a small conversation with a man she did not even know? Of course, this man already had intention of wrong. She should have just went in the house and locked her door.

"a vague description" - huh? This was 3 in the afternoon and she couldn't describe him? storchheim November 20, 2012 10:49 a.m

Since you are quite obviously a woman who has been assaulted before, how much did you remember about your attackers appearance?
