Woman killed in Interstate 95 wreck
A Richmond woman was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Johnston County.
Posted — UpdatedJOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Richmond woman was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Johnston County.
The state Highway Patrol said driver George Keith Williams was traveling southbound when he lost control of the vehicle near mile-marker 90. The vehicle hit a concrete barrier and overturned into a ditch.
Passenger Josephine Massey Williams, 79, was killed, troopers said.
George Williams was transported to Johnston Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He was released Sunday evening.
Troopers charged the driver with exceeding a safe speed.
