— An Apex woman died Sunday night after her car wrecked north of Holly Springs.

Cynthia Ellerbee, 43, was speeding on Stevenson Road when she lost control of her vehicle shortly before 10 p.m, state troopers said. The car ran off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Ellerbee’s 7-year-old son, Trevion Tillage, suffered critical injuries and was being treated at WakeMed, troopers said.

Neither Ellerbee nor her son was wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.

I WISH THAT SOME OF YOU PEOPLE GET A LIFE BECAUSE THE POINT IS THAT SOMEONE LOST THEIR LIFE AND A CHILD IS INJURIED. KEEP YOUR SMART COMMENTS TO YOURSELF AND PRAY FOR THE CHILD AND FAMILY THROUGH THEIR TIME OF LOSS.........GET A LIFE WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!!!!!

Well you know what they say...better do what you're supposed to or one day you'll wake up dead! She should have been more responsible. I feel sorry for the child because he is suffering because of his mother. I don't, however, feel sorry for her. At 43 years old she should have known better. But then again, you never know when it's your time to go. Better be safe everytime!! Buckle up ! If you can't afford a car seat then go look on the internet or find out if there centers in your area that provide them for free.

I do pray for the family but I would like to know why the 7 year old child was not in a car seat or booster. It is the law.

REV RB....the important part of this story IS that a mother would probably still be alive and hugging her child if they had been wearing seatbelts.

    Who doesn't wear a seatbelt??

  • Professor Oct 12, 2009

NOT WEARING A SEATBELT IN THIS DAY AND AGE IS REALLY A NO NO. WHEN WILL SOME OF THESE PEOPLE LEARN THIS RULE OF SAVING A LIFE. WHEN SHE DID NOT DO IT, HER CHILD FOLLOWED HER LEAD IN NOT PUTTING ON HIS SEATBELT.

You can never guess what can happen or not happen when injuries occur. A seatbelt may have made a difference...but either way, it is a tragedy. I lost my parent when seatbelts weren't mandatory and I was the 5 yr old waiting at school for her Mom who never came. I have read the results of my Mom's autopsy and yes, seatbelts would have made a difference. It is not for any of us to judge why they were or weren't on, but to pray for the little boy and his family. My thoughts and prayers are with them has they try to deal with this tragedy.

How old are some of you people......any of us they were raised in the 50s 60s an early 70s did not wear seat belts. So get off the band wagon....what little nonsense judgemental whiners. My prayers for the child who lost his mother...stop brow beating and get a life.

I can't believe some of you going on and on about the seat belts when a child is seriously injured and is motherless.

Check for a pulse, cause I don't think you have a real heart, and get your head out of your armpits and figure out what the REAL important parts of this story are.

    Praying for the child.

    God bless.
