CARTHAGE, N.C. — A 60-year-old woman was injured late Sunday morning during a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer in Moore County.

State troopers said Francis Vanderwalker, of West End, was driving a Nissan on U.S. 15/501, near McCrimmon Road, when the car traveled left of center and slammed into the tractor-trailer.

Vanderwalker was transported by helicopter to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where she was in critical condition early Monday.
