Woman Indicted in Fatal Roommate Dispute

Posted July 24, 2007

— A Wake County grand jury on Monday indicted a Raleigh woman accused of running down a woman in a dispute about a roommate moving out.

Victoria Graham Goode, 55, of 1229 Bentley Lane, was indicted on one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in the July 1 death of Veronica Malone.

Raleigh police said Malone, 38, and a 15-year-old boy were helping Tanya Lynette Mattison move out of the home she and Goode shared when Goode drove her vehicle and hit Malone and the boy.

Malone later died. The teenager suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Goode remains in the Wake County Jail without bond.

Some of these comments are just mean. The woman did have a hard life. She spent many years addicted to drugs and bouncing around. She eventually turned it around and has spent the last 15 years working for non-profit organizations to help others facing similar problems. No one seems to be able to figure out why she just snapped. She'll undoubtedly, and deservedly, go to prison for a long time.

did she think killing the movers would keep her from moving?

I hope everyone else involved can live in peace after this.

I think I can guess why Mattison made the decision to move out of that house. Anyone that thinks the way to settle a dispute is to smack the other person with a car is not someone with whom I want to spend time.

Yes, this is so typical - just look at the dead, shark-like eyes this woman has. Clearly, she is deranged, mentally unstable and void of any conscience. The only person who could do anything with this mess is God.......and hopefully this woman hasn't completely shut down and blackened her heart with her perverse behavior to the point where she can't even hear HIM! You gotta feel some pity for these people who just never stood a chance.

I hope this woman seeks the help she needs while in prison! She looks like she has lead a rough life.

Whew goodness, she look a mess! I agree. They need to check her for mental illness.

I still say she looks like Danny Glover but she is obviously either unbalanced or just plain mean.

I hope there will be swift justice in this horrific case.

I use to be on that grand jury. Now let's allow the justice system to do its job.

    God bless.

Good. Hoping that justice will be served. She looked rough in that last picture they had of her in the court room. Perhaps they need to check her for a mental illness or defect.
