Woman hit by suspected drunk driver in Clayton; driver assaulted by witnesses

— Two people were injured Saturday night after a suspected drunk driver hit a woman in a parking lot and then was assaulted by witnesses following a birthday party in Clayton.

According to authorities, Nastassia Donyun Little, 29, was hit by a car driven by Jose Carlos Colon, 39, shortly after 11 p.m. in the parking lot of the American Legion building at 1200 Old U.S. Highway 70.

Little was treated for a broken leg at WakeMed.

According to witnesses, Carlos was assaulted following incident by attendees at the party and was taken to WakeMed for non-life threatening injuries.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless and reckless driving.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities say charges are pending against a person or persons who assaulted Carlos.

    Does the American Legion rent out their space for private events or is this just people hanging out in the parking lot? This isn't the first time there's been trouble there. IIRC, there was a shooting there not so long ago.
