RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman will be charged with running into a parked state Highway Patrol vehicle Monday on Interstate 40 in Raleigh.

Trooper Michael Davidson was sitting in his cruiser on the left shoulder of I-40 East near Lake Wheeler Road when a vehicle approached from the rear.

The driver of that car, Shynowa Lee Lertjuntharangool‪, faces a charge of failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, said Sgt. Jeff Gordon of the Highway Patrol.

Lertjuntharangool‪, 27, of 120 Lake View Court in Raleigh, veered to the left to avoid hitting another car and struck the cruiser.

Both drivers were treated at WakeMed for non-life-threatening injuries.
