— A Hope Mills woman who drove head-on into a Fayetteville Parks & Recreation truck on Friday died Monday, police said.

Aubrie Dickerson, 28, crossed the center line of Country Club Drive and collided with a city-owned pickup driven by Quinton Smith near the Wedgewood Drive intersection. The Fayetteville Fire Department had to extricate Dickerson from her car, and she was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The pickup flipped onto its side after the crash, but Smith was able to escape without serious injuries, police said.

Check for text. Maybe someone else will learn from her death. I knew a beautiful young lady who died while texting behind the wheel. This is so sudden, so final, that it is hard to believe.
