Woman claims Weldon man cut her
Halifax County sheriff’s officials arrested a Weldon man Wednesday after he allegedly cut a woman.

Coley Shearin, 47, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill and felonious breaking and entering.
Authorities responded to Halifax Regional Medical Center in reference to the alleged assault. A woman there told Deputy Wilstie that Shearin had cut her.
She said he became angry with her and cut her in the stomach area. She also received cuts on other parts of her body during a struggle with him, authorities said.
At one point, another person pulled Shearin off the woman, she told authorities. Shearin fled and was later arrested in Northampton County at a house in Garysburg.
Authorities put him in the Halifax County Jail under a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 27.
