— A 53-year-old man will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife and 2-year-old daughter, Raleigh police said Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 5900 block of Farm Gate Road Tuesday evening to conduct a welfare check. When officers arrived, they found Aminata Drame, 40, and her daughter, Fatim Diop, dead in the home.

Elhadji Diop, Drame's husband and Fatim’s father, was taken to WakeMed for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Raleigh police officers will formally charge Elhadji Diop when he is released from the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. No additional information was immediately available.
