Pittsboro, N.C. — A Washington state woman has been charged with stalking pop singer Clay Aiken at his Chatham County home.
Barbara Jean Saylor, 57, of Kirkland, Wash., was charged April 4 with misdemeanor stalking and first-degree trespassing, according to court records.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Aiken told deputies that a woman had scaled a security fence on his property and was ordered to leave when she was spotted peering through the windows of his home.
Deputies said they later arrested Saylor near her vehicle, which was parked nearby.
Aiken, a Raleigh native and the runner-up on "American Idol" in 2003 who has since built a singing and acting career, told deputies that Saylor has gotten on his property in the past.
Saylor was released on a $5,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on April 24.
