— A 30-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday and charged with felony driving while impaired following a wreck that closed I-440 Eastbound for more than two hours, police said.

According to investigators, Sasha Magana lost control of her SUV just before 2 a.m. near Six Forks Road during an argument that was going on in the vehicle. The SUV overturned twice, police said.

Authorities closed two lanes of I-440 until about 4 a.m. while investigators tried to determine a cause of the wreck.

Raleigh police didn't believe speed was a factor in the crash, but did believe Magana's intoxication was a contributing factor. Three people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the wreck.

Magana was also charged for driving with a revoked license, a safe movement violation and having an open container in the vehicle. No other information was released.

Where were the police BEFORE the wreck? How many bad driving tickets do the police issue on I-440 between sixforks and glenwood per day?

Rebelyell55 has some good ideas. My feeling is judges are hesitant to crack down on these people for driving while revoked, because they are worried they will become even more dependent on the government. But I say, go for it.

@udaycoosay: That was pretty good... and you're dating yourself! However, I preferred Paul Revere & The Raiders. ;-)

Pull up any county LEO web site and check the lock up and you'll see many for no driver license or driving with revoked license. There is a reason they got revoked. Yet because the fine and pentality is nothing, they continue to drive. Need some serious meat to this law, like impounding the vehicle when they're caught. Maybe that'll stop some, but not all.

Looks like she robbed a dinosaur. Seriously though, keep these people off the road. There are enough licensed fools out there as it is. I'm sure that she had NO insurance so whoever else was involved will pay out of their insurance companies money.

This was a horrible wreck, 4 firetruck and at least 8 police cars, 4 of which flew by me to get to the scene. One person was lying on the ground looking like they got ejected from the vehicle, while the car was another 100 yards down the road.

Any driver in NC should know about Pure Contributory Negligence. Only four states with this law.
