Woman charged with DWI after driving into Wake Forest Walmart

— A 58-year-old woman is facing charges after crashing her car into a garden center at a Wake Forest Walmart on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities said Rebecca Downing Wilson, of 70 Summit Ridge Court in Youngsville, crashed her car into the Walmart at 2114 S. Main Street at about 4:30 p.m.

Police said prior to the crash at Walmart, Wilson was involved in a hit-and-run involving another vehicle near the Rent-A-Center at 11216 Capital Boulevard. The investigation into that crash is ongoing.

Wilson suffered minor injuries in the Walmart crash. She was treated at the scene and charged with DWI and careless and reckless driving.

No other injuries were reported.

Walmart officials estimate the damage to the store is about $50,000.
