— A 20-year-old woman cut two other women with a knife during a fight in the 200 block of South Tillery Street around midnight Thursday, Rocky Mount police said.

Police said that Aysha Arqueze Maryland, 20, gave Lindsey Davis, 24, a minor cut on her right cheek and Brianna Oxendine, 20, a severe laceration on her left hand.

Both victims were treated at Nash General Hospital.

Maryland was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She was being held in the Nash County Jail under a $3,000 bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Maryland was put on probation in October for shoplifting, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and another misdemeanant.

Sure we can say why.....its not a racial issue at all. Ignorance can be temporary if cured by education......but stupidity is a permanent condition that no amount of book learnin' can cure.

Is there something in the water at Rocky Mount? Seems there has been an awful lot of violence there in the last few months. I agree with a post on a previous story. You look at the headline and the first thing pops in your head is Rocky Mount.
