RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman is charged with leaving a small child in a car while she went into a store.
Raleigh Police arrested 34-year-old Josefa Hernandez Tuesday afternoon. Officials said her car was still running, and the child ran out of the car and was nearly hit by a UPS truck.
Hernandez was caring for the child at the time, police said.
She is charged with misdemeanor child abuse. She is being held at the Wake County Jail, with bail set at $5,000.
