Woman charged in Raleigh sports bar stabbing

Posted September 29, 2014

— A woman has been charged in connection with a stabbing early Monday at a Raleigh sports bar, police said.

Dominique Gail Worrell, 25, no address available, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries.

The stabbing occurred at Flashbacks Sports Bar & Lounge, at 4004 Capital Blvd., shortly after 3 a.m., police said.

The victim, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to WakeMed with what police said are non-life-threatening wounds.

Worrell was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in March in Wayne County and was sentenced to 36 months on probation, according to North Carolina Department of Public Safety records.

She was listed as an absconder in July after she failed to make contact with her probation officer. Her last contact had been an office visit on June 23.

The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission suspended the bar's liquor license from January to March after a fatal shooting there. At the time, officials said Flashbacks had been the scene of hundreds of reports of gunshots, drug violations and fights since it opened in 2011.

A spokeswoman for the commission said Monday that it's awaiting a police report from the stabbing before deciding whether to revoke its liquor license again.

I agree. Keep the cancer contained. Every time they close a place like this down the problem just moves somewhere else. I've seen a lot of decent clubs and/or restaurants turn into garbage. The Carolina Ale House on Wake Forest Road was overrun many years ago.

Wow people! There are troublemakers everywhere and anywhere that people congregate for socializing. The club owner can only do so much to control anyone's behavior inside, how the devil do you think they can control what goes on outside?

Like another poster said, if you shut it down, the problem just moves elsewhere. It is the mindset of the patrons that cause the issues. You know, the new wave way of thinking that one can show themselves anyway they want to.

As to the assumption that because someone is out at 3 am on a Monday morning equates to no job, living off the taxpayers is really being narrow minded and out of touch with the working world of today. There are a great many jobs where folks don't work M-F or 8a-5p. I used to have a CSR job where I worked 4p-1a Fri-Tue or had Sun/Mon off.

Granted, this particular person is trouble and of a violent nature...but that is all we know for sure.

Nothing good is happening at 3 am on a monday morning on Capitol Blvd.
Already convicted and on probation for THE SAME CHARGE 6 months ago. Crazy times we live in.

Please do not disparage my neighborhood. This is a nice affordable area of Raleigh, and I and many others feel lucky to call it home. Thank You.

Another violent criminal living off the taxpayers and absconding from probation officers and the courts in another violent assault rather than having to serve time.

True. It is kinda 'the wrong side of the tracks' over there. Probably should not let that place reopen.

Just like a liberal, can only insult and never give facts. Oh the majority that work nights are doctors, EMS, police security, I guess she was an ER doctor. My bad.

Really? No one with a job is out at 3am on a Sunday? Everyone works M-F in your little mind?

3 a.m, i guess she didn't have to go to work monday morning like us. One of the perks to be able to live off the tax payers.
