FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Friday charged a Fayetteville woman in connection with a fatal crash two months ago.

Charisse Yvette Tate-Sparks, 47, of the 5100 block of Chesapeake Road, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

Police said Tate-Sparks' Honda Accord collided with a Toyota Camry driven by Freda Elkins Dent near the intersection of Ramsey Street and Summerchase Drive on June 7.

Dent, 77, died of her injuries at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Fayetteville police said the collision caused a chain reaction crash that also involved a GMC pickup and a tractor-trailer.
