Cumberland woman burned in domestic violence assault

Saint Pauls, N.C. — A Saint Pauls man is facing assault charges after authorities said he flung hot grease from a frying pan onto his girlfriend.
Carlie Jason Tyler, 34, was arrested at his home in the 3800 block of Chicken Foot Road following the incident with his 39-year-old girlfriend, Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies said Friday.
The woman suffered second-degree burns to her face, chest, arms and hands. She was taken to UNC Hospitals Burn Center in Chapel Hill.
Tyler was charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a female. He is scheduled for a first court appearance Friday afternoon.
