— A woman faces charges that she robbed and assaulted a man in a wheelchair in Wake County on New Year's Day.

An arrest warrant states that Kellia Ebony Maine, 22, of Louisburg, pulled the man from his wheelchair, threw him to the ground and stole $280.

Maine was arrested Monday on charges of felony strong-arm robbery and misdemeanor assault on a handicapped person. She was placed in the Wake County jail under a $200,000 bond.

At the time, Maine was on probation for an August conviction for driving while impaired, according to state Department of Correction records.

wildcat - I am married with no children. My wife and I consider parenting and raising a child to be a very serious responsibilty. We consider it OUR responsibility (not the state's, not the taxpayer's) to provide for a child financially, emotionally and spiritually. Until we feel we are ready to do that, we are not going to have a child. Also, I have not fathered any children out of wedlock. I have always been responsible in that regard. Accidents happen, though, and if I had fathered a child out of wedlock, I would support it to the best of my abilities.

Attention NAACP this is were your focus needs to be. And the habitual exposure guy from Durham. Not the light bills of the good folks of Farmville.

@hattie - The sad reality is that she'll likely get probation, credit for time served in jail awaiting trial, and maybe some house arrest and community service.
