WEST END, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff's Office has charged a West End woman for allegedly cashing a check meant for a school fundraiser.

On Nov. 4, a Raleigh woman told the sheriff's office that someone had cashed a personal check she had written out to West End Elementary School. A person had written her name on the check, investigators said.

Deputies arrested Deborah Lynn Dew, 37, of 147 E. Devonshire Trail, and charged with forgery. She was being held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond Thursday.

Dew's first court date was set for Nov. 24.
