RALEIGH, N.C. — An 79-year-old woman was struck by a car while crossing Falls of Neuse Road in north Raleigh Thursday morning, police said.

Florence Jean McMahon, of Raleigh, was trying to cross the street at Carlos Drive, where there is no marked crosswalk shortly before 7 a.m., according to the wreck report. Some vehicles stopped to let her pass, but one driver changed lanes to pass a vehicle that was slowing.

McMahon stepped in front of the vehicle and was struck, the report states. She was taken to WakeMed, where she was listed in good condition.

No charges were filed. Police stated in the report that the driver couldn't see McMahon until she changed lanes and that she was going 35 mph in a 45-mph zone.

Falls of Neuse was temporarily reduced to two lanes between Carlos and North Bend drives immediately after the wreck.
