RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police arrested a 72-year-old woman on charges of driving while impaired and hit-and-run Saturday.

Eve Ragland Williamson was arrested around 9 a.m. and later released from the Wake County jail after posting a $500 bond.

Williamson was driving on Mayo Street, near Hillsborough Street, when she hit two parked cars, police said.  She then fled the scene.

Officers staffing the Krispy Kreme Challenge run saw the hit-and-run and put out a description for the vehicle. A short time later, an officer arrested Williamson on Salisbury Street.

Police said Williamson had an open container of white wine, smelled strongly of alcohol and had glassy eyes. She had a blood-alcohol content of 0.2 according to a breathalyzer test, police said.

Her first court appearance was set for Monday.
