Emily Bearden, 26, was traveling north on Old N.C. 86 when she ran off the right side of the road near New Hope Church Road. <br />

Her car hit a fence and a piece of the fence became lodged in her neck, authorities said. Bearden was airlifted to UNC Hospitals and died just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
