RALEIGH, N.C. — A convicted felon on parole was charged with robbing a woman while she sat in a car.

William McClain Moore, 32, of Willow Springs, forced his way into the woman’s car on Ridge Road in Raleigh Friday afternoon, police said.

The woman was sitting in the passenger seat when Moore tried to take her purse. She fought back, but Moore was able to get out of the car with her purse, police said.

Witnesses followed him and called the police. Officers set up a perimeter and brought in K-9 Officer Ray Nance and his dog Dingo.

Moore dropped the woman’s purse and was arrested with no struggle, police said. Witnesses returned the purse to the woman.

Moore was charged with robbery and second-degree kidnapping and was held on $1 million bond. He was released from jail in April after serving six years for a robbery that occurred in Utah, police said.
