Witnesses Help Police Nab Purse Snatcher

Posted July 7, 2007

— A convicted felon on parole was charged with robbing a woman while she sat in a car.

William McClain Moore, 32, of Willow Springs, forced his way into the woman’s car on Ridge Road in Raleigh Friday afternoon, police said.

The woman was sitting in the passenger seat when Moore tried to take her purse. She fought back, but Moore was able to get out of the car with her purse, police said.

Witnesses followed him and called the police. Officers set up a perimeter and brought in K-9 Officer Ray Nance and his dog Dingo.

Moore dropped the woman’s purse and was arrested with no struggle, police said. Witnesses returned the purse to the woman.

Moore was charged with robbery and second-degree kidnapping and was held on $1 million bond. He was released from jail in April after serving six years for a robbery that occurred in Utah, police said.

My guess would be that if he was just released from prison 3 months ago he must really miss the free cable and room & board he left behind, not to mention his "girlfriend".

why is it only a hate crime if a White does this to a Black and not visa versa?

Tyrone Williams, I like your comment!

Bless his heart, too sorry to get a job. I'm sure the voices told him to do it or a troubled childhood led to it.

Jerks like this guy always look for the easy way out, work is well, too hard. Bring back chain gangs, teach these jerks we house and feed what it means to work for a change.

And another thug bites the dust! This time he should get at least 12 years. Glad the citizens were vigilante and helped take this crook down. He is lucky he surrendered or Mr. K-9 would have had a good piece of him! Good police work and a happy ending. Give those citizens a break - they should get to drive on our roads toll-free for the rest of their lives.

mercer88--I wish you had gotten a bigger vocabulary before you signed up on here. Al and Jesse can't be everywhere and it's running rampart lately. I'm glad the good citizens stepped up to the plate for a change. At least they didn't ignore her or step over her like the poor woman killed up north. Bless the K9 for his part. I'd drop that purse too if I saw him barrelling my way. Good partership for both of you.
