Winston-Salem hospital begins job cuts

Winston-Salem, N.C. — Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem announced Wednesday that it would cut the equivalent of about 950 jobs by June 2013 in an effort to control costs.

The cuts will be about half from positions currently unfilled and half from the elimination of current employees, the hospital said. The reduction represents about 6 percent of the center's workforce.

The cuts began when 76 Wake Forest Baptist employees were laid off this week. They come after reductions in expense and discretionary budgets were not enough to meet the hospital goals. Almost two-thirds of the center's costs are labor, the hospital said.

This is how the country is going to move *FORWARD* under the prez and I bet this will be just the beginning of something quite HUGE before 4 years is over.....it will be quite interesting to see just how all of this is going to pan out...OR NOT....

"For those opposed to "Obamacare" who in the world do you think pays for the Physician's & Hospital expenses that the 21+ million Americans who lack health insurance pays right now?, the answer (less we refuse poor sick patients who have no insurance) is that you do, with your local city & county taxes. Much better to have these folks insured with Obamacare or should we turn out as in India with our ill folks begging on the roads for help."

Wrong, this is going to cost more money. Believing that ObamaCare will reduce costs is equal to believing in the tooth fairy. Medicare is not FLOATING anything. Private insurance is picking up what Medicaid and Medicare does not cover. When a person with private insurance gets a bill, they are paying part of the bill for several other people. The good news is more and more providers will cease taking Medicaid and Medicare. I hope every Doctor out there starts refusing these patients.

See Chart, learn how to spell. The poor just come to the emergency room like they have been doing for years. Your India comparison is ridiculous.

We are getting 21 separate taxes through Obamacare to pay for it. Your bank winning doesn't make sense.

Any way you look at it, it is a flawed solution and the flaws are showing up quickly.

Thank you Obamacare. With all the job cuts, there won't be anyone left to pay for the uninsured. I guess the top 1% can cover everyone.
