KINSTON, N.C. — A company that provides materials to home builders and remodelers plans to expand its window manufacturing operation in Lenoir County, creating 252 jobs over the next five years, officials said Thursday.

Associated Materials Inc. expects to invest more than $5 million to expand its Alside Window Co. plant in Kinston, officials said.

AMI, the parent company of several North American manufacturing and distribution operations, already employs about 550 people in North Carolina. The company's products and services serve both the remodeling and new construction markets in the continental U.S. Canada.

"We are investing in people, training, new equipment and manufacturing capabilities now through the next five years,” Ondrea Joyner, AMI senior human resources manager, said in a statement. “We appreciate the commitment from Lenoir County and the N.C. Community Colleges to assist with our expansion.”
