Wind, car crash knock out power in Raleigh
Nearly 4,500 people lost power Tuesday night when high winds brought down utility lines in northeast Raleigh, according to Progress Energy.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Nearly 4,500 people lost power Tuesday night when high winds brought down utility lines in northeast Raleigh, according to Progress Energy.
Raleigh police officers were directing traffic near Brentwood Road and Atlantic Avenue.
The utility company estimated that power would be restored by 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Earlier Tuesday, a car crash involving a power pole at Poole and Barwell roads knocked out power to more than 2,700 Progress Energy customers. All but about 200 people had power back by 10 p.m.
