Wilsons Mills police chief resigns

Posted November 20, 2008

— The first chief of Wilson's Mills' police department resigned last week after nearly two years on the job.

Former Chief Steve Little handed in his resignation, effective immediately, on Nov. 12, officials said. Lt. Roy Aycock has been appointed interim chief.

Town officials said Little left for personal reasons. Commissioners had been concerned because Little also worked part-time at Johnston Community College.

Little was the first officer hired when Wilson's Mills formed its police force in February 2006.

The department has two full-time officers and one part-time officer.

There's really no story here with the Chief. Believe me. No double dipping to be uncovered, despite some of the rumors I've heard. Unfortunately it seems some of the Board members have chosen to use their positions for their own personal agendas. No shocker there, right? At least 3 have axes to grind with him. One has a "small" drug habit. One was arrested by Little's officers for physically attacking one of his housing tenants. And, one takes a special interest in the Chief's teaching time because his brother (also in LE) isn't one of the saught after instructors at the college. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Maybe the folks of Wilson's Mills should reconsider their choices next election time . . .

Not sure, but I do know his boys like to patrol US 70 posing as SHP wannabees. One of his guys, who's no longer there, got runnoft (as Delmar in O Brother spelled it)because he was too agressive with the ticket book on 70.

I Remember Officer Little having questionable issues in his past and I am wondering if something similar has arose or something that has not been made public is the Actual cause for his early departure.
