Wilson man pleads guilty to woman's stabbing

Posted July 15, 2009

— A Wilson man pleaded guilty Wednesday to attacks on three women, one of them fatal.

Richard Wayne Sauls, 32, of 5011 Boswellville Road, was charged in the July 2008 stabbing death of Ann Lindsay Fulghum and attacks on prostitutes in November 2006 and last July, authorities said.

Sauls submitted an Alford plea to second-degree murder, felonious restraint and felonious larceny from a person. An Alford plea means the accused maintains his innocence while acknowledging that prosecutors had enough evidence to possibly win a conviction

Sauls will serve the sentences for each of the three charges consecutively. He could spend between 15 and 20 years in prison.

The sentence this person got for the brutual murder of Ann is just a JOKE!!! Wilson County should be ashamed!! There are people serving more time for way less of a crime than he will ever serve. Maybe he will get what he deserves in prison. I pray for peace for Ann's family. I knew Ann and she had a super sized heart - she would have done anything she could for anybody. She trusted every person she met. Unfortunately she put her trust in this evil person.
May Ann rest in peace and may her family have strength.

DEATH PENALTY for what he did to Ann ... a wonderful person, great mother, true friend and compassionate OR nurse!!!~~~

He could have tortured/murdered any girl/woman in Wilson Co. It could have been me or you... He did not discriminate and he showed NO MERCY. Not one shot to the head...20 stabbings and suffocation! He should suffer the same fate.
