Wilson man dies in wreck on I-95

Posted August 18, 2010

— David Lloyd, 29, of Ashbrook Drive in Wilson, died Wednesday in a wreck on Interstate 95.

Lloyd was traveling north near the Nash-Wilson County line when a tire blew out on his green Ford Explorer, forcing him off the road near mile marker 126 just before noon, according to the state Highway Patrol. He over-corrected and flipped the SUV, which came to rest on its roof. Lloyd was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, troopers said.

All northbound lanes of the interstate were closed until about 1:30 p.m. while emergency crews and investigators cleared the scene.

Lloyd was alone in his car and no other vehicles were involved, troopers said.

that should be live instead of leave.

Anyway, my heart and prayers go out to the bereaved family. May you find comfort and peace in the memories of your loved one.

Thank you concernedcoworker10 and yogi647 for such great comments! We really do leave in such a cruel world these days. People are so quick to jump to conclusions and criticize.

I am very sad for his family, they are devastated. He leaves behind some beautiful very small children, let's all think about that. It was a tragedy for the people who loved & cared for him.

GOOD FOR YOU CONCERNEDCOWORKER10! I couldn't have said it better myself.

These commenter's log on, critize victims but they can still go home to their families. Someone has lost a son, a friend, a coworker etc... today and this is the first thing that comes to their mind. If you are that insensitive, fine, but don't type it for all to see. Its not just this article, but every article. Insensitive comments should be rejected.

You can be ejected from a vehicle in a serious crash. My daughter was hit head on by a drunk driver. The MPV van she was in was flipped on it's side. My daughter had her seat belt on but it came unbuckled and she was partially ejected out the front seat passengers window. The van landed on her legs. She spent three weeks in the hospital and eight more months recovering from her injuries. As a former EMT, I've seen it happen in other accidents.

    Another Ford Explorer fatality?

  • concernedcoworker10 Aug 18, 2010

This is a shame. David was a good worker. He was a good man, father and wife. I couldn't have asked for a better person to work for our company. This is a sad day.

I hope you people who all you do is criticize realize that's wrong. Accidents are accidents. If this were to happen to you, you wouldn't want people writing comments oh he was on the phone not wearing a seat belt and needs to take driver's ed. You people are no better than trash.

and wear your seat belt. he may have been but getting ejected usually also means no seat belt. tragic - but seems like it could have been avoide.
