Wilson man charged with attempted murder

Police arrested a Wilson resident Sunday night for allegedly shooting a man in a field near the intersection of Meadow and Lodge streets in Wilson.

WILSON, N.C. — Police arrested a Wilson resident Sunday night for allegedly shooting a man in a field near the intersection of Meadow and Lodge streets in Wilson.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 3 p.m. Sunday and found Christopher Claude Thigpen, 33, lying face down with a gunshot wound in his back.

Thigpen was taken to Wilson Medical Center and then air lifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.

The investigation led police to believe that Thigpen was shot by Oscar Green, 72, of 605 Randolph St. Green was charged with attempted first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Wilson County jail without bond.

The relationship between the two men was not disclosed. No other information was available.
