Wilson man arrested after gunfight with police

Posted August 31, 2012

— A Wilson man was arrested early Friday after exchanging gunfire with police.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person with a weapon at 320 Daniel St. shortly before 1 a.m. and ordered a man there to show his hands, police said.

The man then pulled out a gun and fired at officers, police said. One officer returned fire as the gunman fled the area on foot.

No one was wounded in the exchange, police said.

A short time later, police found the suspected gunman sleeping in an apartment on Rountree Street and arrested him.

Ed Lee Edwards III, 36, of 3729 Starship Lane, Apt. A,  was charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder. He was being held in the Wilson County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.

Sadly the charge may be changed. Even though the blue lights were going. He will say he was in fear of his life and did not know that they were police.

Doubt he was asleep. The police probably already had a good idea who he was and where he lived. Quick excuse - I've been in bed since 11:00. I don't know what you're talking about.

Attempted murder of police officers. Life without parole! Good place for this scoundrel. Perhaps the Wilson police need some more range time.

In court, the good shots are punished and the bad shots are given lesser time, although both intended to kill.

He just goes home and goes to sleep. That's amazing the lack of conscience this requires.
