WILMINGTON, N.C. — Two people died in a Tuesday morning house fire in Wilmington that investigators say was set.

By the time firefighters arrived at 1901 Lingo Ave. shortly after 5 a.m., smoke was already pouring out of the building and flames were roaring through the interior, authorities said.

Three occupants were able to escape the fire and were taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries that authorities said weren't life-threatening.

The identities of the two people whom firefighters found dead inside the home haven't been released.

The State Bureau of Investigation has been called in to help the Wilmington Fire Department and Wilmington Police Department investigate the suspected arson and resulting homicides.
