Willow Spring man arrested, charged for bringing gun onto school grounds

— A 34-year-old Willow Spring man was arrested Friday morning after he brought a gun onto school grounds, authorities said.

According to investigators, James Smith Whitlock, of 121 Oak Ridge Drive, carried a black semi-automatic 9mm pistol onto the grounds of the Ravenscroft School in north Raleigh.

Whitlock was charged with bringing a gun onto educational property and terrorizing the public.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday.

    There really a isn't any substance to this "report".

    Who else was on the school grounds? Is he a parent of students? What is meant by acting "strangely". Come on, more detail is needed regarding the circumstances.

    Uh oh, that word must have slipped past one of the WRAL proof readers; haven't seen them use that as a descriptor in a crime based story in quite some time.

    Just saw the video. So, he terrorized nobody. School was out. He just acted oddly, but threatened nobody.

    Did he terrorize the public, or was the public just being paranoid. I appreciate the law exists because lawmakers over-reacted to the fact that criminals killed people at school by banning every citizen from carrying a gun on school property, but that doesn't now mean that anyone packing a gun is now terrorizing people.

    What did this man do?
