Willie Nelson, Farm Aid coming to Raleigh in September

The concert is scheduled for Sept. 13 in the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh. It features performances by Nelson, who is Farm Aid president and co-founder, along with fellow board members John Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Dave Matthews.

Jack White, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jamey Johnson, Delta Rae, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Carlene Carter, Pegi Young & The Survivors and Insects vs Robots will also perform.

"In North Carolina and across the Southeast, family farmers have struggled to stay on the land, but they have also pioneered new roads to economic sustainability," Nelson said in a statement. "On the Farm Aid stage, we'll celebrate family farmers and the healthy communities they're growing for all of us."

Since 1985, Farm Aid has raised more than $45 million through the festival to help family farmers keep their land and publicize locally grown food.

Those in attendance can eat food from vendors, meet local farmers and learn about cultivating land.

"There is a fair-like feeling when you go to Farm Aid. All day long, people are performing on stage, and food from family farmers is being served," Mellencamp said in a statement.

Tickets for the concert go on sale in August and prices range from $49 to $175. A limited number of pre-sale tickets will be available Friday.
