A William Peace University freshman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly exposing himself.

Investigators say Christopher Vincent Sumrell, 20, was at his dorm on the Raleigh campus Tuesday when he exposed himself to at least three people.

Sumrell, a freshman, was jailed under a $5,000 bond on three counts of indecent exposure.

"We will investigate the situation, and William Peace University will not accept any behavior unbecoming of a student," Frank Rizzo, vice president of student affairs, said. "That will be seen as inappropriate, and we will follow our own judicial process."

Sumrell is among the first male students at the university. In August, the school opened its doors to men for the first time in more than 150 years.

ccsmith1902----well said...nothing remotely the same about the "old Peace Collge"...

As a Peace College graduate, I am mortified that this has happened...not saying that the "all girls" had a record of perfection, far from it, but junk like this??? Never happened on campus. Peace is digging itself into a hole that I doubt it can get out of...alumni are pulling support...sad day for a once wonderful institution...

"BTW if you didn't go to Peace, your opinion really doesn't matter b/c you didn't experience the life we did."

cbunn2 - Right there with you!

What a joke! I went to Peace in the 80s and it was some of the best years of my life. I too was very upset about Peace going co-ed. But the new administration cared more about money than tradition so they got what they deserved! BTW if you didn't go to Peace, your opinion really doesn't matter b/c you didn't experience the life we did.

Peace has had crime in the past. And many of the girls who attended Peace ended up in trouble elsewhere. So please stop with all the drama regarding men attending now. This is one person, sex is not important, that is a criminal and has done something illegal again. Stop condemning his entire sex because of his actions. It's only a marginal step up from associating him with everyone of the same race and shows incredible and willful ignorance.
