DURHAM, N.C. — The state Highway Patrol has charged a Durham woman in a wreck that killed her husband last week.

Teresa Vaughn, 49, was charged with felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired, driving while her license was revoked and reckless driving.

Troopers said Vaughn was driving on N.C. Highway 751 near Kerley Road on March 10 when her car ran off the right side of the road. She over-corrected, and the car went off the left side of the road into a ditch, where it overturned, authorities said.

Vaughn was thrown from the car, and her husband, Mark Anthony Vaughn, who was in the back seat, was partially ejected, authorities said. Neither was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

Mark Vaughn, 55, died at Duke University Hospital later that day, authorities said.

Teresa Vaughn was taken to the hospital for treatment, and she was released Tuesday.

Another passenger in the car, Sabrina Addison, 26, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released. She was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
