Why the Christian stars of 'Fixer Upper' don't want their children to have cell phones

Joanna and Chip Gaines, the stars of popular HGTV show, “Fixer Upper,” certainly know how to fix a problem.
Recently, Joanna has looked to solve the ongoing issue of families letting their children spend too much time on their cell phone. So, to buck the trend and curb the issue, the Gaines don’t let their four youngsters have cell phones.
"I tell the kids that you are probably not going to get a cell phone," Joanna told Entertainment Tonight. "We want to teach our kids that life happens outside of these devices. It's just a simple thing to go outside and connect with nature, play with your friends and get dirty."
More so, the Gaines don’t even have a television in their home. They celebrate “the little things,” as Joanna put it.

This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that the Christian family has been touted for its family values. As I wrote last month, the Gaines’ opened up about how they’ve sometimes struggled to keep up with all the fame and success that have come their way.
But, they said, by putting their hearts into their work, they are confident they can succeed and make it all worth it.
