Posted November 30, 2016

Sauteed veggies

Here's the place to share your meal ideas for the evening, post where you bought the ingredients frugally and even share a recipe if you would like.

If you need some inspiration for your own dinner tonight, this may give you some helpful ideas.

What's on your menu tonight?

raesmom1612 - hope everything is ok during your weird day! Your PB cookies are so awesome!! You are all going to make it VERY hard to eat well on Saturday!!

The bbq and stuff was for DH but I'm sure yall figures that out lol

It's been a weirdly crazy day today so dinner is a pb&j for rae with apples on the side, left over bbq ribs, potato salad, biscuits, greens and baked beans and I am having leftover goulash......gourmet buffet. We will be back to our regularly scheduled program tomorrow.

Gonna get started tomorrow on the sugar cookies and whole jar of peanut butter cookies for the cookies swap this weekend!!!!

And FWIW, I really do know how to compose a sentence in spite of how that last post looked! LOL

I just don't do it so well when I have a certain little Scottie girl who is simultaneously barking at me, nudging me to pet her, and trying to steal the tissue from my pants pocket. ;)

Faye -- decision on dinner or cookies? ;)

Neither have been decided for sure. One never knows what's going to get created until it's on the plate LOL.

Dinner plan A: raisin bread French toast with maple syrup, breakfast sausages (because I'm too lazy to cook bacon)

Dinner plan B: a mash up between au gratin and scalloped yellow potatoes with onion, slices of ham, onion, and cheddar or parm. I might have a tiny bit of broccoli, otherwise, I'm out of green stuff.

Cookies: nut balls/Mexican wedding cake cookies for sure. Dough is already made. The second kind is still TBD. Either my version of not-exactly-shrewsbury drops or a recipe for bar cookies that are ridiculously decadent. We'll see...... :)

Laughing at the meal plan comments from all of you today. I am in the same boat with you!

According to my pants (darn them), I'm still recovering from too much stuffing and banana pudding last week so we are having garlic shrimp with steamed broccoli florets. Everyone else can have mashed potatoes with their dinner as well. Just lean protein and veggies for me.

walkerwest - I have to say that for someone who is uninspired, your meals sound great. I love loaded taters and French dip sandwiches!

meredith88 - how exciting on the furniture! I bet the new house is really starting to come together.

jdouglas13 - I agree about buying non-sale items. It is painful. But the meal sounds like it was fabulous. If you have breakfast for dinner tonight, that is certainly more frugal and helps to balance out the more expensive dinner last night. So what did you decide to make?

I've been uninspired all week for some reason. We had baked potatoes with broccoli, cheese & chicken on top one night, one night we had wedding soup with ground turkey meatballs. Last night we had pork chops with leftover veggies and tonight, dh has requested french dip sandwiches with yet more leftover chicken. Just not feeling it this week. :(

I was hoping to get inspiration from others for tonight's dinner and it seems that JDouglas is the only person cooking :-)

I have no idea what we are cooking for dinner tonight. We are picking up a lot of our new furniture tonight so we may grab food while we're out and about. Otherwise I'm leaning towards something simple so we can spend more time getting furniture assembled.

Is no one cooking tonight?? ;)

Last night we ended up postponing our French toast/breakfast for dinner, so we may have that tonight. I had to stop at HT to pickup some walnuts for baking for the cookie swap, and bought some ground chuck for meatloaf, a couple of big potatoes for baking, and some fresh green beans. The Princess got the leftover green beans with her breakfast this morning. I really enjoyed the dinner, but none of the components were on sale, and it showed when it was time to pay. I so VERY rarely buy stuff that is not discounted somehow, either being on sale, markdown, or with a coupon. It's a shock to pay full list price, and even more so to think of how many years I did just that.

Thanks, Faye, for everything you do to help us be smart shoppers. :)

    So, what's for dinner everyone?
