    Nanee Lion - no recipe needed. This one was so easy and quick to make and tasted great! I used a Pumpkin Bread boxed mix from Aldi. I added 1 mashed up very ripe banana and 1/2 a bag of Aldi milk chocolate baking chips to the mix (with the eggs, oil and water amounts listed on the box). Followed the baking times and temp. Voila!

    Don't know it's origins or timeline, but what a sweet memory date-nut bread brings back of a great aunt and afternoon teas -- with a schmear enjoyed on ours, too. :)

    Today is Mom's birthday, so making pork roast with sauerkraut & mashed potatoes. Pork was FL deal from a few weeks ago, $1.49/lb. Lemon cake for dessert :)

    Faye, your bread reminded me of the date-nut bread my Grandmother, who never baked anything in her life, except for the now-renowned Border Cake, used to buy at the grocery store back in the 60's. She often served it for dessert with a schmear (cream cheese). It was so good. It used to come presliced, and had a red wrapper that had to be peeled off. Does anyone remember that?

    Dinner tonight is still TBD. Last night we had a sheet pan dinner of cauliflower, Italian sausage, and roasted fresh tomatoes. Seasonings were garlic, because I can't cook practically anything without it, Italian herbs, lemon pepper. Everything was topped with a generous sprinkling of breadcrumbs and parm, and drizzled with EVOO. It took less than 10 minutes to assemble and get in the oven, and about 2 minutes to clean up since I lined the sheet pan. My kind of dinner. :)

    Ooops! Forgot to share... planned tonight's menu while shopping yesterday: chicken fricassee (thighs were FL markdown), whole stewed tomatoes (LF markdown) with fresh oregano (covered by leaves, so thankfully, the frost hasn't killed it), roasted (unbreaded) okra bites (Kroger coupon deal), and sweet potato biscuits with honeycombs (SC family's hives).

    Tonight we are having homemade meatloaf loaded with "hidden veggies", mashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and steamed broccoli.

    Our last-minute company got pushed back a couple days so they will be there tomorrow night. We will probably still make chocolate chip cookies because they are my favorite :-)

    Faye - Yu-um-m! Stir fry veggies a fav :) ...you wouldn't have any of that mouth watering bread left if I were around either ;-) Got back to the blog this morning and saw your soup-sandwich-salad combo from yesterday -- now on Sunday evening's menu. Plus, thanks for the Aldi ravoli tip ... that's one I've not found and would love to try!

    RaleighFoodBlogger - Cake cornbread took many forms in kitchens of grandmothers and aunts...in cast iron skillet and rectangle sheet pans...a go-with-anything comfort food! Never thought of quinoa in the chili, look forward to trying that -- did you adjust your seasonings?

    Tonight we are having Teriyaki tofu, stir fry veggies & rice. I made pumpkin, banana, chocolate chip bread yesterday so that will be dessert (if there is any left!).
