While I was at Kroger tonight, they had a couple items your could taste test. One as butterflied shrimp. So, we are having butterflied shrimp, steamed fresh green beans, and scalloped potatoes. It is a great marketing technique.

YBAverage -- thanks. You're right, I think I'll just make it from scratch and add some mushrooms. I don't know what I did to the gravy yesterday, but it was inedible.

Meredith, M&C is always a great menu choice! :)

Tonight we are having hot dogs. I don't know why but we've both been craving them for a week and just waiting for the Thanksgiving leftovers to dwindle down enough to justify cooking again :) So hot dogs with all the toppings, roasted fresh green beans, and mac n cheese.

JDOUGLAS, the easiest way to do a quick gravy: make a roux of equal parts butter & flour. Then whisk in stock (beef for your roast) until you reach the desired consistency. Add salt, pepper to taste. Easy & better than anything out of a jar ! You can add mushrooms and/or sauteed onions as well.

We ended up having leftover lentil soup and biscuits last night, so tonight will be the pot roast. I totally messed up the gravy (to the point I had to throw it out), so I haven't figured that part out yet. I've never had gravy from a jar -- are there any good ones? At least I can get some mushrooms for it and some potatoes for mashed for DW.
