Tonight - I made a soup of leftovers - canned tomatoes, navy beans, corn , carrots , potatoes, onions , and shredded chicken .

NANEELION - i clean my cookware with baking soda and water -
top of stove method : boil water/baking soda mixture ( about 1/4 to a quart of water )let it boil until almost dry . set aside to cool then handwash with soap and hot water .
The next time you CAN add a splash of vinegar ( I use white) to the pot - it it may take a couple of runs on the canner to get it clean but it will improve . I have added vinegar to my canner every run ( OK I forgot a time or two but the vinegar did the job the next go around) and it looks as good as the day I bought it 26 years ago.
I also found some some LIQUID Bar Keeper's Friend - it is fantastic!!
My cookware and stainless steel sink look amazing now ! The powder was OK but hard to rinse off and did not smell so good - the liquid is easy to rinse and pleasant without being too smelly .

    Those menus look good!
    Asparagus is always so good!
We had an Aldi built 5 minutes from me and it opened a week ago (I was driving an hour once a week before)...I've been to the new one 5 times lol..yes, I love Aldi!

Tonight we had a large salad with mixed greens, strawberries, grapes, walnuts, and gorgonzola cheese. Topped it with grilled salmon. Had tomato basil bisque (Reason, I thought of you when I made it lol), and French bread with homemade herb butter; it was all so good!

Nanee Lion - Thanks - I'm getting there. One walk and carrot stick at a time. lol And you are going to need to eat out of your freezer for the next week to make room for Thanksgiving!

Regarding cleaning your pot, I looked it up and found this option:
http://www.sheknows.com/food-and-recipes/articles/847771/clean-a-burned-potAnd here's another method using natural cleaners:

You are so right VLYNN. We had fried cornbread for our birthday dinner on Sunday with our collards. There was not one piece left - been a long time since I cooked it. Boy we cooked collards all day yesterday. Hubby burned my canning pot! He wants to toss it but I am determined to find something to clean it. Any ideas?

We had spaghetti tonight. We are having GarnerToy's menu of meatloaf, corn, creamed potatoes, steamed cabbage and more cornbread for tommorrow. I need to reorganize my freezer, it is so full I can't put anything else in it. I am so blessed because of Faye's help. Thanks Faye. You looked great today. I never hear you in the AM but caught the lunch episode.

ThomasG hushpuppies and fried cornbread are not the same! Fried cornbread is made like thin pancakes, crispy and so delicious. You spread the batter out in less grease and flip them like pancakes to cook both sides. Hushpuppies are thicker and made by dropping the batter by the spoonful in deep grease to created rounded or oblong blobs.

VLYNN LOL !! The Pacific Northwest( Seattle/Portland) is beautiful but there are NO hushpuppies nor FRIED OKRA !!
How can you have fish with NO HUSHPUPPIES ??LOL

jdouglas13- I need to go to Kroger anyway ...
I am VERY sorry to miss the cookie swap - I was looking forward to expanding my "taste tester" skills but that was the only extended weekend we could go away before New Year's .

ThomasG, so sorry we'll miss you, but have a wonderful time with your DW. Colonial Williamsburg ahould be especially nice this time of year.

Please dont go to Kroger without calling first if you're only going for the asparagus. I don't know for sure that it's on sale. :)

ThomasG re fried cornbread. Finally, someone else who knows what it is! That's another thing that I noticed when I moved here---no one had heard of fried cornbread. Everyone adds sugar to it and bakes it! Blasphemy!!!
