    jdouglas - what I call butter beans are what most people call fort hook lima beans I believe.

    Granoftwenty, I remember those packets. They were melted unsweetened chocolate. If your mother used a double boiler, I'm betting there was some cream involved and maybe some egg yolks. Any time I do anything chocolate, I always add some instant espresso powder (instant coffee is ok) and some vanilla extract. It doesn't make the chocolate taste like either, but just intensifies the chocolateyness.

    I might see if I have some boneless chicken in the freezer for dinner. I think they have time to defrost. Maybe breaded chicken cutlets with who know what else.

    Granoftwenty - Even if we made our 'childhood favorites' just as our Mom and Granny did it......I don't think they could ever taste as good ;-)

    PEPPER2 - My biscuits nor iced tea will never be as good as the ones I remember
    What I would give for my mother's chocolate pie recipe - it more like a dark chocolate than milk chocolate .Not too sweet but just right . She cooked in the double boiler. I seem to remember chocolate packets you squeezed out instead of the blocks or cocoa.
    I finally found her coconut cream pie recipe
    TONIGHT : chicken - that is far as I have gotten .LOL

    Sorry to be such "old news" today.....busy day yesterday....got behind on blog news!!!

    Observant - My Granny made her own dough as well and cut it into strips. It is nice that in today's hectic world we have so many ready-made products (which I often use) available to us....But, nothing tastes as good as Granny's ;-) lol...My made from scratch doesn't taste as good either!

    Garnertoy - I agree with Granoftwenty, I don't think I have ever heard of cornmeal dumplin's. Would you let us know how you make them? I would love to try them as well !
