Tonight is shepherds pie with hamburger, peas, corn, mushrooms, cream of mushroom soup, topped with tater tots and cheddar cheese. Now that I am doing a weekly meal plan, I remember why you have to have the gourmet buffet at least once a week and DH has come home for lunch twice this week.

RFB - The Blueberry Cookie Bars sounds fabulous! Such good blueberry prices this week as well! I am going to make some blueberry pancakes tonight for us to enjoy for the next couple mornings. Yum.

We are having a chicken taco bar. My lovely daughters reminded me that today is 1/2 price sushi at Lowes Foods so we will pick up a couple packs (all cooked - no raw) and have that with our planned dinner because Mexican and Japanese food go perfectly well together..... I guess I should have planned the teriyaki tofu and veggies for tonight to have with the sushi instead of having them last night. I don't think the kids will care as long as they get their California Roll. lol

Jdouglas- interesting on the sauerbraten- I need to try that! I think I found the flour at Earth Fare? Or Vitacost. I really love Vitacost lately for organic staples/skin care products. I save up and order enough to get free shipping. Plus they're much cheaper than the health food stores in town.

    Have a safe trip back!!!

RFB your short ribs remind me of recipes I've seen for sauerbraten. Where in the world did you find ww pstry flour? I've been on the hunt for Graham flour. Sorry for typos. Super bumpy bus ride! ;p

YBAVERAGE2003- I'll let you know! The recipe is from the cookbook The Farm- which was also a PBS show (it's free to watch if you have Amazon Prime) They are both my new favorite obsession. And your pork tenderloin sounds delicious, too!

RFB, can't wait to hear how those short ribs come out ! They sound amazing.
For dinner tonight, pork tenderloin ($4.10 special at Food Lion), mashed new potatoes and black beans.

I'm trying a new recipe for short ribs (got from the farmers market) in the crock pot. You use dried fruit (apricots and dates) plus spices like cinnamon and allspice, apple cider vinegar and brown sugar. And smashed red potatoes (also from farmers market) and peas on the side.

And yesterday I made the most amazing Blueberry Cookie Bars- had to share the recipe. My only changes were using whole wheat pastry flour instead of whole wheat flour, plus adding a pinch of salt... THE BEST! https://oneordinaryday.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/blueberry-cookie-bars/
