My WONDERFUL family made me homemade chicken noodle soup, french bread and chocolate cake for my birthday! The soup was doubly appreciated as I seem to have caught a nasty cold (on my birthday no less!) and it really hit the spot.

Violet, a cookbook I have not heard of, and by a chef I like a lot! Sounds great. I'll have to check it out and save up my Swagbucks points.

No clue what's for dinner here tonight, but yesterday I actually followed through and made the buttermilk cake with mocha frosting. DW was in heaven. :)

Hope Lives - I love TexMex as well. Perfect day for your soup.

Violet - If you have not tried the 97% fat free beef Hebrew Nationals, I recommend them. Very tasty with significantly less fat and calories than regular dogs.

Faye- sounds like a delicious dinner! Hebrew National are my favorite hot dogs.

Hope Lives- I've been craving all things TexMex too! I need to put chicken tortilla soup on my menu for next week!

Homemade Chicken Tortilla Soup. So easy peasy and so good! I guess it's TexMex week in our house!

Violet, your chicken with fennel sounds great. So does the cookbook. Thanks for sharing the title and author.

My oldest keeps asking for hot dogs so tonight we are having Hebrew National 97% fat free beef hot dogs on buns. I am serving it with sauteed mushrooms, green peppers and onions (which I will put on my dog). Also having sides of pasta with creamy light alfredo sauce and broccoli as well as fruit (clementines and strawberries).

Tonight I'm trying a recipe from a new cookbook that I think might just be my favorite EVER (which is saying a lot :-) 4-Step Chicken with Fennel from Supermarket Healthy by Melissa D'Arabian. This has such amazing recipes that are user friendly, healthy, and best of all focus on eating well for less! I already have a list of over 30 recipes I want to try.
