Haha just read my post. I'm happy dad is home, but I just don't think he was ready. He was only in the rehab facility for 6 days!! I know my family (especially mom and baby sister) really wanted him home, but I think he needed more time to heal and learn to walk....ok end of rant lol

Observant~ thanks for the kind words! Dad is home now (I'm not too happy about it) and doing good. Yes Diabetes is a scary disease (runs on both sides of my family). Dad is too far gone to try to "fix" now, but you still have time. Since you know what you have to do to cope with it, it makes it a bit easier. Hang on in there, I know it feels hard at times.......but is anything in life ever easy??? :) You will be just fine ;)

Observant - I feel your pain. DH has it also. You learn to cook very different. Luckily, DH has his under control. Some times what I cook can mess up his numbers. The other day when we had Shepherds pie, his numbers were high for about 24 hours. It is a constant battle. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Everyone's meals sound great again !
We are having Pork chops on the george foreman , baked potato and green peas .
If dessert is desired - we have apples .

OBSERVANT - Big Hugs to YOU !!
Sounds like you are on top of what you have to do !
I love the idea of the almonds with the fresh fruit !!
Many of the guidelines are good for ALL of us - portion control especially.
Many times ,DH and I can get 2 more meals from take home trays when we eat out ! We now ask if they offer split plate ( pay for one entree such as lasagna, steak, or ribs that we share along with plate of sides for each of us ) Thinking of YOU !

Roasted chicken ( marked down at Just Save a couple of weeks ago ) , baked potato (russet for DH, sweet potato for me ), steamed broccoli from past sale . fresh fruit salad with apples , grapes , bananas, pineapple ( if I get one today) & almonds for me

I am so sorry to hear about your dad !
If your dad is like you ( from what I can tell strong and beautiful) he will adapt quickly
HUGE HUGS to you and your family !!
I have diabetes and am scared of all the complications that the disease can cause .
At times it is exhausting and I feel like giving up .
Portion control and cooking from scratch & exercise ( if blood glucose below 240 ) are a huge part of my fight but sometimes that number is hard to control . Support and encouragement are super important too.

Sounds yummy everyone! Ascherer I vote for my taco soup :)

And I COMPLETELY agree with what Ascherer says. This blog is amazing! I laugh, I cry, I've made life long friends and I dont know what I would do with you all some days!! Just the small words of encouragement that you all give and the cyber hugs :) are what help get me through my hard times.

    Thanks to all of you!!!!

Mr. Nichols went hunting on Monday so tonight we are having grilled venison loin wrapped in turkey bacon, macaroni and cheese, creamed spinach, roasted cauliflower, and steamed broccoli.

bjmholmes3 - that salad does sound good.

Faye - I knew I was forgetting something. Thank you. Add either garlic bread or grilled cheese to my soup tonight.
