    Ascherer, I didn't realize your folks are in SC -- that makes it so much more difficult when you need to get there in a hurry. I'm sorry your AC is out (and hope it's fixed now!), but I was really worried for your Dad thinking he had no AC. Sending good thoughts your way that his health is ok.

    Faye- I think I need to re-subscribe to Cooking Light! And good to know on the flank steak. Jdouglas- was it you that was going to cook braciole a few weeks back? They featured it last weekend on The Kitchen, and it looked amazing. Jeff "The Sandwich King" used flank steak. I have it on the menu this week!

    And just a heads up, we mixed it up a bit tonight and I added some sweet potatoes. But, they were Japanese sweet potatoes (which I found at Earth Fare a few days back, and had never tried- or heard of). I'm seriously in love with them... they are white inside, and sweet, but a bit more dense- wow!!! Highly recommend.

    jdouglas - M&D are in SC. We are in Cary. The Cary house is without AC. AC was working fine when we left SC on Sunday. I can live with 74 year around but 80+ inside is killing me.

    I would love to try a new recipe a week but I always forget to save the recipe. ;-)

    Ascherer - I'm so sorry about your AC. It always happens on the hottest days, too :( Is your Dad ok in the heat? Very glad he is home from the hospital, although with no AC, he might have preferred to stay, if he's anything like me. I start to melt when the temp goes over 72.

    Faye, I think that's a great idea to try a new recipe every week! Not that I could keep it up myself, LOL. The recipes you pulled sound really good. Are you a recipe hoarder too? I have a dozen 3 inch binders full of recipes I've pulled plus another 6 inch stack to be filed yet. Thank heavens for Pinterest or it would be WAY worse!

    Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. We came home to no AC. Thus no cooking was happening at our house. Hopefully it will be fixed within the hour. I will cook tonight if it gets fixed. Of course that means a grocery store run.

    On a happier note, Daddy was released from the hospital yesterday. Thanks for the thoughts.

    Jdouglas - come on down but I think we changed our plan to turkey sandwiches on honey wheat bread with salsa verde, tomatoes, onions and lettuce. It's hot today and I don't want to stand over a hot stove. But - it will be cooler tomorrow so shrimp linguine is back on the menu then. :-)

    Your shrimp with asparagus and rice meal sounds fabulous!

    I just went through the latest Cooking Light magazine and I cut out half the recipes this month! They all look fantastic. I hope to make one new one a week starting next week (stop laughing everyone - it could happen....). I'll include recipe links if available. So many delicious ideas like Open Faced Salmon and Avocado BLT's, Zucchini and Onion Gratin, Flank Steak with tomato bruschetta and more! Flank Steak is on sale at HT so I will probably start with that next week.

    I think we are having a shrimp/rice/asparagus sauteed concoction tonight. The flavors will be lemon, garlic, evoo, parm. I just need to get to HT for some asparagus. A trip to FL is on the agenda, too, for broccoli crowns and romaine hearts.

    Stasan, I used to love porcupine meatballs when I was a kid and haven't had them in forever. Thanks for the reminder to make them soon. :)

    RFB and Faye, if I decide not to cook tonight, can we come eat at either of your houses? Yum!
