jdouglas and Faye- thanks so much for your sweet words and offer to help. He's doing much better today, thank goodness! :-)

And the recipe was outstanding for the blackberry chicken. I pan fried the chicken and changed out a few ingredients, including balsamic for rice wine vinegar, but it's a GREAT use for the sale blackberries! http://www.steamykitchen.com/27061-grilled-chicken-with-blackberry-sweet-and-sour-sauce-recipe-video.html

RFB - I hope your hubby has a full and quick recovery.

nakabi - Congratulations on your princess!! So sweet! Wishing you a wonderful rest of the pregnancy. :-)

jdouglas - I hope that headache of yours is gone by now.

Update on the flat iron steak recipe: It was a winner! My high schooler could not stop eating it and even poured the sauce over her pasta (didn't have time to get to the store to get the sweet taters so pasta with alfredo was a very welcome substitution).

I did not have any cabernet so I used merlot instead since all the cooking sites I read said it was a good alternative. I also added some McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning to the marinade. If you like a red wine sauce, you will really like this.

This was also the first time I had cooked Flat Iron on a skillet and I was impressed. We decided it was too cold to grill and I wanted to see how it would taste on the skillet. We were all very pleased. Oldest daughter asked to have it every week. lol

RFB, I'm so sorry your HD is in the hospital! :( Can I do anything for you to help? Is there anything you need?

Nakabi, congrats on your princess to be! Your first daughter is soooo cute. I'm sure she'll love having a little sister. I through pennies in a wishing well for years trying for a sister. Finally worked! ;)

Faye, that steak recipe sounded so good I printed AND pinned it. Please report back. I'm betting it was delish and could be used on any kind of steak -- London broil, skirt, flank, NY strip, etc. Yum.

Raesmom, I so agree that homemade food is so much better than restaurant food. It doesn't have to take a lot of $$$ to make a really delicious meal. Awesome score on that chicken!

Just want to say to everyone, thanks for all of your tips, menus, ideas, and inspiration! This blog is the best. :)

And, to follow up on my post a few days ago, I wanted to share the Chicken Katsu recipe (can't remember if I did). It was SO delicious, and got huge thumbs up from my husband. He's been in the hospital this last week :-( but I've been bringing him homemade meals (sorry, but hospital food just won't cut it :-)

He said this was his favorite (and the docs and nurses were really jealous when they saw it)... so I had to pass it on. (I used the Tonkatsu Bull-Dog sauce from the Asian Market for a dipping sauce- love it!) http://justonecookbook.com/recipes/chicken-katsu/
