ASCHERER - It is very interesting to know all the different names for today but the significance remains the same : Fat Tuesday , Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Day (in Great Britian) - a festive time to enjoy certain foods that are not allowed during Lent.
I hope your mother is doing well !

Tonight is the traditional pancake dinner at Momma's Church. I will eat there and bring Momma a dinner home. The traditional pancake dinner is an old school way to prepare the household by using all of the meat (bacon, sausage) and sweets (syrup) before the abstinence/fasting of Lent. As far back as I can remember, this Church has been having the pancake dinner even though abstinence and fasting are no long really observed outside of the Catholic Church.

With the warm weather, I'm thinking about cooking out tonight. I picked up a couple of really nice bone-in pork chops from HT BOGO yesterday along with some $1.99/lb asparagus. They are a little bit on the thick side (which means they come from younger, more vibrant plants) and are perfect for grilling with a little lemon, garlic, EVOO.

I'm trying to come up with a marinade for the pork... any ideas?

Hi, all! I finally made the Broccoli Chicken Spaghetti Squash casserole last night and it was amazing! Best new thing I've made in a while. Here's the link: https://whatscookingamerica.net/Vegetables/BroccoliChicken-SpaghettiSquash.htm Be prepared for a prep time of about 30 min. I cut the squash in 1/2 & put it cut side down in a glass dish and microwaved it for 10 min. I used a 9x11" dish for the casserole. After I sauteed the chicken breasts, I took them out of the pan and added mushrooms and garlic (didn't cook it w the chicken as the recipe suggests) & let them cook down about 5 min. Delicous and nice & cheesy & vegetably!

I didn't use my Jersey Mike's birthday because when I printed the coupon, I found out it's good for one year! WOW. Love it. Will hang on to it for future dinner. So instead I had a turkey hotdog and birthday cake!
